You can see the instrument dials in the eyepieces. All calculations are done manually based on visual values. You can calculate the distance to objects with a known size (height) using rangefinder readings and a formula. Or, if you know the size of an object you can calculate the distance to it.
The division value in the compass is equal to 1°. The instrument indicates the direction towards the object in degrees. North is 360°, south is 180°, east is 90°, and west is 270°. The compass has no illumination, so natural light is required for observations.
