In addition, they were built with much heavier and sturdier frames having a 1" thicker punch than previous models. They also feature a longer piston stroke of approximately 3.8" which allows for the reloading of magnum cartridges as well. larger ones, using all possible travel.
The Big Boss II is equipped with a unique feature that only Redding possesses and that is the "Spent Primer Collection System". It is a very innovative primer collection system that is also present on the T-7 models and on the UltraMag press. The fundamental feature of this press compared to its equal single station category is that it has a much wider opening window and above all a greater length of the piston which allows a higher excursion. It is simply the best press a shooter will ever buy and keep in their shop for reloading.
Characteristics:
"Spent Primer Collection System" = Innovative primer collection system
1" diameter piston
Structure built in heavy cast iron with central body inclined to the vertical at 36° in order to provide the best possible view
Large frame opening of approximately 4-1/2"
3-13/16" long piston, also useful for reloading magnum calibres
Straight/side handle with ball-shaped knob to facilitate refilling operations
"Smart" mechanism for the automatic insertion of the primers every time the main lever of the press is activated. This mechanism moves both inwards and outwards autonomously
Very resistant connection between the central body and the turret
An adjustable steel bushing allows to install all dies with standard 7/8"-14 thread and can be removed whenever it is necessary to use "oversized dies"
